Makronsnitter


Makronsnitter, losely translated to "Macaroon slices", is another Danish cake. This cake has a shortcrust bottom, then topped with jam and dark chocolate and a filling made of marzipan, sugar and egg whites on top of that. Let's just say that this cake is definitely not healthy, at all - However, it is such an amazing combination of flavours and is perfect for special occasions. 

Makronsnitter er en meget velkendt kage, som smager absolut fantastisk med mørdejsbund, marmelade, chokolade og lækker marcipan-makron på toppen. Den er syndig, sprød og lækker på én og samme tid. Den er bestemt ikke sund - men netop dette gør, at jeg synes den er perfekt til specielle begivenheder. 


RECIPE/OPSKRIFT (35x20cm): 

Shortcrust/mørdej:
- 225g flour/mel
- 125g margerine
- 125g sugar/sukker
- 1 tsp baking powder/tsk bagepulver
- 2 big egg yolks/store æggeblommer

Filling/Fyld
- 1dl jam of your choice/syltetøj af eget valg
- 75g dark chocolate/mørk chokolade

Maracoon-filling/Makron-fyld:
- 4 egg whites/æggehvider
- 500g icing sugar/flormelis
- 250g grated marzipan/revet marcipan

1. Turn the oven on at 175 degrees celcius. // Tænd ovnen på 175 grader. 
2. Mix flour, baking powder and sugar. Add margerine in small pieces and then mix. Add the egg yolks and mix until the dough turns into a "crumble". Do not over mix! Pour the mixture into a lined 35x20cm baking sheets and press it down. Bake for 15 minutes. // Bland mel, bagepulver and sukker. Kom margerinen i, i mindre stykker og bland det godt sammen. Tilføj æggeblommer og bland det hele indtil det bliver til en smuldredej. Hæld det så i en bageplade på 35x20cm (beklædt med bagepapir) og pres det godt ned. Bag så i 15 minutter. 
3. While the shortcrust is baking, make the macaroon-filling. Mix egg whites, icing sugar and grated marzipan well. // Imens mørdejsbunden bager laves makron-fyldet. Bland blot æggehvider, flormelis og revet marcipan godt sammen. 
4. When the shortcrust is done baking, spread the jam of your choice on top. Then chop chocolate into pieces and add on top of the jam. Now "sprinkle" the macaroon-filling op top until it covers it all - Do not spread it. Turn the oven to 200 degrees celcius and bake for another 20 minutes. // Når mørdejsbunden er færdig med at bage smørres marmeladen på og dernæst hakkes chokoladen og kommes ovenpå. Derefter lægges makronfyldet på i "klatter", indtil det fylder hele kagen - Lad endelig være med at forsøge at smørre det ud! Sæt ovnen på 200 grader og bag i endnu 20 minutter. 
5. Let the cake cool completely and slice - then serve! // Lad kagen køle helt og skær dem så ud i snitter - og server!
